Butterfly Boogie

Oh what do I remember about my 2nd 10K? Not to much, mostly because my brain, eyes, and legs were FROZEN. The weather was overcast, cold, windy....did I say COLD.....38 degrees!

The course was well designed to ensure a negative split...uphill the first 3 miles and down hill the last! I finished in 1hour 3minutes.....not the greatest, but I did finish and ran the whole way.

Elizabeth and I started out cruising the first 3 at a 10.5 pace. Around mile 3 when I began thawing out I picked up the pace, mainly to get back to a heated environment as quickly as possible. The second half of the race followed the Katy trail. Surprisingly enough passing the bbq and burger joints, whose smells typically make my mouth water had the opposite effect on this particular morning.....I wanted to GAG!

All in all my time is on par with that of the Trinity River Levee run.....I'll take it...

My Dog the Monster!

OK! So I know that I haven't updated in a while...but this post is very amusing to me...and I feel compelled to update!

While, I am blessed to have a job, home, and dog that loves me......I am so embarrassed right now it isn't even funny....

Before I launch into the story I'll let the world know what my life has been like the last few months in a few frank bullet points!

Since my last post I have been busy with life....

  • I have gone on a few dates whom have disappeared...why? Don't know but if anyone has any ideas...please do tell?!? I guess that is normal in these times of easy to meet, greet, and disappear...
  • I went on a fabulous ski trip with friends(pics to post within the week)
  • Work, work, and more work (no complaints!)
  • Balding cats(yes again)
  • New addictions to Mob Wars on facebook
  • Continuing addictions to scrabble (much worse with the blackberry application)
  • Wine...need I say more
  • Retaliating fur balls
  • The furminator, a direct correlation to the above bullet
  • My mom....no explanation needed
  • Last minute black tie events- super fun if you can get ready in 20 minutes(Thanks Valerie, my new personal stylist)
  • Running my first 10K and then having a fabulous beer afterwards
  • Oh, and 609 Harwood...check it OUT!
Now for the story of the evening. I know that I hear these types of horror stories from friends with kids. When their kids embarrassed them so much they wanted to sneak out of the back door of a friends house or restaurant. Having a dog isn't that much different. Here goes...

The Boo (Orson) and I go for a walk, this amazing March 77 degree day, after work. That in itself is a mere treat! I am out the sun is shining and all is right with the world. As we round the corner and are cruising down Forrest Hills blvd, I see my friends car in her driveway. We will call her Audrey, since she is one of the classiest ladies I know....and loves old school movies. Well, she opens her home and we cruise in to chat. I haven't seen her in ages and yet she lives a mere 2 blocks away. We crack some wine...Boo plays in the backyard and we talk....The conversation moves into the kitchen and so does Boo and all his Lab GAS! Ignoring the rotten egg smell, we move to the TV room to catch American Idol. Needless to say the lights aren't on in the TV room and Boo follows Audrey into the room where she tries to turn on the light and in the interim he locates the ONE BALL in her house. YES, this happens to be a commemorative SIGNED baseball, which he wants us to throw to him. In previous posts I mentioned his slight addiction to tennis balls, soccer balls, soft balls, anything round(yes, even grapes). I was mortified.....We get the ball from his mouth and I am praying NO damage is done, however am not too sure about that. The only safe place to put the ball besides her freezer, which was my recommendation, was on top of the fridge. He follows Audrey into the kitchen poised and ready to play catch! Now, don't get me wrong, there are alot of people who find this behavior endearing. NOT me.....This was my friends home, her signed Nolan Ryan BB! (even though the rangers aren't at the top of their game this is still a collectors item). Funny thing is....if asked, Audrey won't have known where that ball was to begin with. HOW and WHY could he and did he find it in a dark room and having never been there before!?!?

All in all the rest of the evening went well and we enjoyed it even with Boo trying to st on the couch and continue to gas us out!

I will say...I haven't been that embarrassed in a long time and am still hoping that he didn't leave teeth marks in the ball. Audrey assured me that there weren't any...but she is too nice.

Do you think we will get an invite back???? I wonder!

Well Cheers and Happy Spring 2009!
